If you want to tie on one whitewater kayak, a single sea kayak, a race kayak or a sit-on-top go for the 3m length.
For double sea kayaks, wide SOTs or when using kayak cradles to carry a moderately large kayak the 4m length will be good.
The 2m length suits smaller loads such as surf boards.
