Using pedal power makes lot of sense for fishing. You have your hands free to fish and you can easily stay over the fish without needing to use anchors or drogues. And with the Propel drive system you can move both forwards and backwards. To move in reverse, simply pedal backwards.
At 3m long and only 27kg (excluding the seat and drive unit) the Slayer Propel 10 is easy to manage. Native have designed the hull so that it can take a large payload - up to 227kg can be carried.
The Slayer 10 has a lot of features fitted into its short length. There are Groove Tracks along much of the length of the kayak, which allow easy fitment of rod holders, fish finders or camera mounts. The solid grab handles make lifting and carrying the kayak that bit easier, while the front hatch lid lets you carry gear inside the kayak. The seat is extremely comfortable, supportive and will not absorb water. The seat slides on 2 Groove Tracks and this allows you to get in a good position to pedal. The seat is locked in position using 2 knobs.
Pedaling the kayak is easy. You do not need to spin the pedals fast, and the kayak will cruise along faster than you could paddle it (at a similar effort). The drive unit pivots up and out of the water, allowing the kayak to be launched and landed with no fear of damaging the propeller. You can expect to move along at speeds of 4-5 km/h when cruising, and reach a top speed of around 7 km/h (on flat water with no wind).
